DevOps Engineer

Reports To: Chief Technology Officer

Location: Remote / USA

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Compensation: $120,000-$140,000 Salary

 

Summary

BetterRX is a growing software-as-a-service (SAAS) company in the healthcare industry looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our Engineering Team!

In this highly visible role, you will be an integral member of the development team building top notch software. You will be responsible for leveraging innovative technologies and best practices to streamline software development processes, enhance system reliability, and drive continuous improvement in deployment automation and infrastructure management.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills while demonstrating a collaborative mindset, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in delivering reliable, scalable, and secure software solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the infrastructure setup is repeatable, scalable, and consistent across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Ownership of deployment and application onboarding process.
  • Integrate security practices into the SDLC, including securing the CI/CD pipeline, conducting regular security scans, and ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
  • Eagerness to learn and stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in DevOps.
  • Implement alerting mechanisms to quickly identify and respond to issues.
  • Serve an on-call escalation resource for outages when necessary
  • Actively participate in refinement and technical meetings.
  • Participate in code reviews and coach team members in following our coding standards.
  • Setting up and maintaining monitoring and logging solutions to track the health and performance of applications and infrastructure.
  • Implementing optimizations to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency of applications and infrastructure.
  • Openness to feedback and a growth mindset to continuously improve skills and processes.
  • Serve as an engineering member on our development (scrum) team.

Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years professional development team experience, PHP preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps role
  • Proficiency in Terraform and Docker Required, AWS code Pipeline highly preferred.
  • Proficient architecting scalable applications using AWS services.
  • Proficient with Git.
  • Proficient using Composer and NPM for package management.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other automated software tools.
  • Experience in building and using API’s and Web Services.
  • Experience with Apache and Nginx.
  • Linux/Unix scripting and generally proficient with Linux
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications

 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work 100% remote
  • Ability to travel for internal company retreats (twice annually)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be located in the US
