Our story

Jared Stong (PharmD) founded BetterRX after a life-changing experience with hospice. One of his family members experienced significant pain and suffering because the hospice was unable to get the right medications ordered and fulfilled on time.

This led Jared on a journey to improve patient comfort. He envisioned a better pharmacy experience for hospice so patients wouldn’t suffer. Today, BetterRX has transformed the pharmacy process for hospice through our efficient ordering, medication tracking, and utilization optimization technologies. We help hospices get pharmacy right so patients are always comfortable.

What is BetterRX?

BetterRX is a technology-enabled pharmacy services provider that connects all members of the care team to help ensure patients get medications when they need them. Recent studies show that the hospice pharmacy industry is broken, resulting in needless patient suffering. For example, 96% of hospice nurses have watched patients suffer because nurses couldn’t get medications to them in a timely manner. Our mission is to end needless suffering caused by medication delays.

How is BetterRX different than a PBM?

BetterRX stands out from PBMs in several ways. Medications are filled by community pharmacies near patients, ensuring faster delivery compared to the often slow and unreliable mail-order services that hospice patients cannot afford to wait for. Hospices working with BetterRX have access to more community pharmacy options, as our model makes filling prescriptions for hospice both rewarding and profitable for pharmacies, unlike PBMs, which often frustrate and drive pharmacies away from hospice services. Our optimized ordering processes prevent nurses from having to chase medications, minimizing delays.

Will hospice care teams save time with BetterRX?

Nurses typically save 5-7 hours per week after switching to BetterRX. Pharmacies can fill scripts faster because BetterRX technology virtually eliminates phone calls and billing rejections. Additionally, prescribers save time through real-time notifications and electronic signing.

How much will my hospice save each month when I move to BetterRX?

While hospices often save money simply by switching to BetterRX, how much they save varies. Hospices typically see significant savings by using our Utilization Optimization Technology to improve their ordering habits. Hospice nurses, prescribers, and executives normally experience significant time savings.
